Kitty Rescue-Updated

On the evening of May 25th two of our Inawashiro volunteers were returning from a walk and found a cat in need. She seemed injured, and looked thin. Thinking quickly, one person returned to the shelter to gather a laundry bag, food, carrier and a bike to so that they could rescue the poor cat. She was easy to catch. Here she is in the carrier and secured to the back of a bike for the walk back to the shelter. Image titleShe settled into the cage that was prepared for her in our quarantine room. The plan is to take her to the vet as soon as we can. There we can assess her health, get her vaccinated and get any medication she may need. In addition we will post "lost cat signs" where she was found. She looks as though she has been on her own for sometime but we have our fingers crossed that she is a loved lost pet and we will be able to reunite her with her family.

UPDATE

After visiting the vet and being told she is thin, but otherwise healthy and gave birth to a litter of kittens at some point recently-ish, we deceided, with heavy hearts, to let this sweet girl back where we found her once we were sure she had a full belly. This momma is the only chance any potential kittens would have. We will keep an eye on her and feed her daily. Thus she may show us her babies in the future, or we can recatch if her health tasks a downward turn. Good luck little momma!
